In just a few days, Skills Canada Compétences National Competition (SCNC) will be taking place at REAL District May 29 and 30.
SCNC is the only national, multi-trade and technology competition for students and apprentices in the country. Over 500 of Canada’s best students and apprentices will showcase their skills across 40+ skilled trade and technology competitions.
Skill Areas challenged will include construction, services, transportation, information technology, manufacturing, and employment. Each area has multiple skills in the competition. Everything from welding, 3D animation, hairstyling, robotics, and more.
As CEO of Skills Canada Compétences, Shaun Thorson explains, it’s an opportunity for employers to see some of the talent and also take part in “Try-A-Trade and Technology” Activities and get some hands information.

Opening Ceremonies will take place on Wednesday, May 28 at 4 p.m. and the Closing Ceremonies will be on Saturday, May 31 at 11 a.m. in the Brandt Centre. Tickets for the opening ceremonies and to attend the competitions are available HERE. There is a fee for attending the Opening and Closing Ceremonies, but the rest of competition is free so you can fully experience the sights and sounds of a wide variety of occupations.
The competitions are Thursday, May 29 and Friday, May 30 from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. both days.
