Behind the Scenes: Pulling Back the Curtain on REAL Events
Since 1884, REAL has been the heart of Regina’s biggest moments, the district is a place where tradition and community have come together to create unforgettable experiences and a lifetime of endless memories. From legendary concerts, iconic sporting events, tradeshows, and more, REAL has welcomed generations of patrons and fans, adapting, and evolving while staying true to its roots.
Like magic, our facilities can undergo a stunning transformation seemingly overnight, bringing new experiences to life with remarkable speed and precision. The Brandt Centre may have echoed with the roar of hockey fans yesterday as the Regina Pats battled it out on the ice—a tradition that stretches back for decades. Today, that same space has become unrecognizable. A towering stage has risen, lights dance across the rafters, and a sound check reverberates through the empty arena in preparation for thousands of fans to pour in, ready to add to their growing list of memories and experiences at REAL District.
It’s a transformation one needs to see to truly appreciate the work that goes on.

It’s not just ice and concerts in the Brandt Centre. The arena often comes alive with two exciting types of horsepower, the four-legged kind and the four-wheeled kind.
Each November the ice is removed from the arena floor and covered in several loads of dirt as REAL welcomes one of our major tenants in for six agriculturally themed days. The Canadian Western Agribition turns Brandt into a full-fledged rodeo arena complete with stock dog challenges, horse pulls and a full schedule of rodeo events.
They roar into Brandt and perform stunts and tricks on the dirt covered floor and over the dirt ramps throughout the track. Both are remarkable examples of a transformation that takes place on-site and completed by REAL staff ensuring visitors have an unforgettable experience.

Meanwhile, over at the Queensbury Convention Centre, event transition appears effortless. This morning, day-long meetings started in one of the ballrooms, a scene that has played out at REAL countless times over the years. By nightfall, that very same room is draped in elegance, set for a gala dinner where the guests from those earlier meetings may toast the future. The transformation is seamless, yet beneath the surface, it is the product of tireless planning and dedication.
This same story plays out in the other facilities at REAL, the Viterra International Trade Centre, AffinityPlex, Avana Centre, Banner Hall, or Co-operators Centre.

REAL employs hundreds of local residents who, each day ensure the facilities run smoothly. A meeting room set up to a client’s expectations makes their session seamless and worry free and allows them to focus on their own priorities. A turnover from a hockey game to a concert ensures fans and show organizers have a great experience in the Brandt Centre.
Successfully finding a seat in a busy stadium for a visitor can make a visit to REAL a much more pleasurable experience. The REAL Guest Experience team members make visits more comfortable by helping patrons with a wide variety of requests ensuring they can make the most of their visit.

The size of the event makes no difference as each team member hopes every person interacted with leaves with a positive feeling knowing their needs were met.
REAL District isn’t just a venue; it’s a legacy that’s been created for over 140 years. A place where moments become memories, where history is honoured, where the future is always in motion, and designed to bring us together.
